Corrections

Every correction we issue appears here in full, permanently.

How we handle errors

When we get something wrong, we fix the article, mark it as updated, and describe the change here and at the foot of the article itself. We do not quietly edit and move on. The original claim is described so a reader can see what changed.

Where an error is significant enough that the article should not have run, we retract it. Retracted articles remain at their original URL with the retraction stated at the top, because removing a page a reader may have relied on does them no favors.

Telling us about an error

Write to our contact page with the article and the specific claim. Claims accompanied by a source get resolved fastest.
